BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SACRIFICE ANNOUNCED FOR NINTENDO DS

Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s final television airing might have been as far back as 2003 (disregarding the repeats since, of course), but the popularity of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s cult kick-ass character is still strong. To capitalise on this, 505 Games has announced a deal with Warner Bros. to bring Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sacrifice to the Nintendo DS.
Currently being worked on by Romanian development studio Beast, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sacrifice mixes third and first-person action to provide what 505 Games promises is “like nothing else on the Nintendo DS.” Based on the original story by Rob Deshotel, the title sees player taking control of Buffy as she attempts to seal the re-opened Hellmouth.
Described as a 3D horror title, over 20 weapons will be at Buffy’s disposal as she disposes of vampires and demons, and she’ll also be hooking up with famous characters such as Spike, Angel, the Master, the First Evil, Caleb, and the Scooby Gang.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for 505 Games and we’re working extremely closely with Fox to ensure this is the definitive Buffy the Vampire Slayer experience,” said Rowan Tafler, Global Brand Manager, 505 Games. “Buffy’s return to videogames is great for long-time fans of the franchise and we hope the huge market reach of the Nintendo DS will help to create new fans too.”
Elie Dekel, Executive Vice President Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising added, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a franchise that continues to excite people around the world. Although there are no new productions of the series there is an enduring legacy that lives on through syndication, comic books and video games like these. We’re sure DS players are going to love this version.”
Key features:
* Play as Buffy the Vampire Slayer through 24 levels using a third person camera.
* Unlock and use more than 20 types of unique Slayer weapons.
* Fight more than 12 different level bosses and sub-bosses, including First Evil, the boss of all bosses.
* Play “Challenge Mode” in first-person for fast-paced action and an increased difficulty level.
* Solve puzzle missions to unlock new areas.
* Collect spells to increase Buffy’s supernatural and physical abilities.
* Explore 12 dynamic environments and search for up to four hidden ones.
* Use breakable objects located within in all environments to battle demons and vampires.
* Unique story set after the climactic seventh season of the TV series, written by Rob Deshotel, one of the original writers of the TV series.
* Explore locations from the TV show, including Sunnydale High, the Bronze and the Hellmouth.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sacrifice will be released in Europe this November.

FRIEND VISITS 'VERONIKA' SET

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates, i've just been really busy recently. Anyways a good friend of mine from NY, Livia , actually got to visit the set and meet Sarah on one of the last filming days of 'Veronkia Decides to Die'. Here is a brief description of her expierence..
“In the beginning of May, I found out that the Paulo’s Coelho book “Veronika Decides To Die” would be adapted to the big screen by DAS Films production. The people who read the book, will notice some changes in the film version, such as the location. In the book, the story happens in Slovenia, but in the movie it takes place in New York. The reason for the change is because the city makes the movie more relatable with their audience, according to the producer Mitchell Goldman.
Since I admire the author and I love movies, I could not pass the opportunity to visit the film set. I got in contact with Mr. Paulo Coelho and asked him permission to visit the set. Since he is very gracious, he did no hesitate to help me. A couple of days later, I was already in contact with Mitchell Goldman. That day, the set was in Brooklyn, New York, and it was the second to last day of shooting.
Everyone welcomed me with open arms: Mitchell introduced me to everyone and answered everything I wanted to know about the shooting. I talked with one of the main actors on the movie, Jonathan Tucker, who plays Edward. He could not be more down to earth. Veronika, the main character, interpreted by Sarah Michelle Gellar, better known by the Brazilian public for her TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
During the five hours that I stayed on set, I watched two scenes being filmed. One of the scenes was inside Veronika’s apartment with both of the main characters. Afterwards, we all went to the front of the building, for the last scene of the day. I was waiting for the scene to start, when the actress Sarah Michelle Gellar surprised me by asking if I would like to be part of the movie! Of course I accepted and in five minutes I was in the movie as an extra. Sarah Gellar was one of the nicest people on set, she not only invited me to be part of a scene, but she talked to me between takes and was even more pleasant to me on my second day. Actually, the next time I see her, we both will be wearing some cute tennis outfits (but that is just my wishful thinking).
According to Goldman, they just wrapped filming, and now they have to work on the postproduction. He said they hope to launch the movie in festivals such as Cannes and Sundance next year and are planning for a major worldwide release. Who knows, maybe they show up in Brazil?
My visit was better that I imagined, and would like to thank everyone who made it a great experience, particularly Mitchell Goldman who was in contact with me since the beginning. I also would like to thank Sriram Das who authorized my visit and a special thanks to Mr. Paulo Coelho who made it all possible.
In conclusion, Goldman said that “the condition of alienation experienced by the character of Veronika is something that is common in today’s youth and we wanted to tell that story” explaining on why they chose the book for the adaptation. He affirms that the artistic expression of the book as a film will have some difference, but they hope that these differences will only add to the story.”

Das Films has teamed with Velvet Steamroller Entertainment, Muse Productions and PalmStar Entertainment for "Veronika Decides to Die," an adaptation of the Paulo Coehlo novel that stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jonathan Tucker, David Thewlis, Melissa Leo and Erika Christensen.
Roberta Hanley and Larry Gross wrote the script, and Emily Young ("Kiss of Life") will direct. The film started shooting in New York May 12.
Gellar plays the title character, a woman who goes on a journey to free herself from the constraints of society.
Financing comes from Sriram Das' Das Films and Velvet Steamroller. Jonathan Bross and Chris Hanley are producing, and Kevin Frakes and Stephan Paternot are exec producers. Velvet Octopus is selling the film worldwide at Cannes.
